To format an External Hard Drive in Windows 7, follow the steps below:
**WARNING** Formatting a hard drive will erase ALL DATA on the selected drive. Use with caution!
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Expand the “Computer” tree
3. Right-Click the hard drive you’d like to format and select “Format…”
4. Make sure “NTFS” and “Quick format” is selected, enter the desired name (If applicable) and click “Start”
It should only take a few seconds and it will alert you that the format has completed successfully.
